Take Your Students on a Hayride

Give your students a mindful movement break to light up learning. Each slow breath soothes the nervous system and stimulates the brain. Watch the video below to gain movement ideas. Enjoy!

1. Step onto the Wagon - As you are seated, bring one knee up to your chest. Rotate your ankles as you sit tall and breathe. Switch sides.

2. Sunset Breath - Stretch your arms over your head as your breathe in. Slowly arc your arms down to your sides as you breathe out.

3. Mindfully get off the Wagon - Stretch both hands over your head as you lean forward. To mindfully stand up, press both heels into the ground and lift yourself up one inch from your chair. Hold here for 3 breaths. Rise to stand up.

4. Fall Leaf Pose - Stand tall with hands stretched over your head like the letter V. As the wind starts to blow, sway side to side. Breathe deep.

5. Pick Apples- Reach tall on your tippy toes as you search for apples. Stretch your body in any way that feels good. Pick an apple and place it by your feet.

4. Mindfully sit down on the floor.

6. Place Apples in Basket - In seated pose, lean back and place apples from one side to the the other.

7. Stand up as slowly.

8. Scarecrow Pose - With right foot on the ground, lift the left foot and place on the inside of the right calf or thigh. Balance here and make a fall face of your choice. You could share a happy, scary, worried, calm, or angry face. Stay here and breathe for 3 deep, slow breaths. Switch sides.

9. Pumpkin Pose - Sit in your chair and make yourself into a ball. Add a stem with one of your fingers, Relax and breathe.
