Self-Care for Educators

Morning is an opportunity for personal care when it is routinely planned and executed without thought. Try to avoid your phone and other chores that are always in the background screaming for your attention. Put yourself first as you rise early with the sun! Here are 6 actions you can take today.

  1. Oil Pulling -  Swish 1 tablespoon of organic coconut oil in your mouth for 15 minutes.  Your gums and teeth will love you for this. Make your daily TODO list while swishing.

  2. Tongue Scraping -  Nasty but powerful to rid the body of bacteria from the mouth.

  3. Face Massaging - Mix 3-4 drops of essential oils (frankincense a personal favorite) mixed with rose-hip oil (or any gentle face oil). Breathe deeply while applying with love and admiration for yourself.

  4. Sipping Lemon Water During Quiet Time Sit tall while reading your favorite devotion. Send blessings to loved ones while lengthening your exhale.  Watch the sunrise for an additional bonus, and remember that you shine like the dawn!

  5. Upper Body Strengthening — Below is my 10-minute morning arm workout. I despise it, but notice a HUGE difference in strength.

  6. Moving the Body - Walk, run, bike or roll out your yoga mat.
