4 Simple Ways to Bring SEL to Life with Powerful You Cards
Hi Educator Friend,
Looking for easy, meaningful ways to use the Powerful You Educator Cards in your classroom? Here are 4 simple, effective ideas you can use right away to support confidence, connection, and social-emotional learning.
1. Student Helper
Build confidence and responsibility by inviting a student helper to place the cards in ABC order. This task supports focus, leadership, and classroom ownership.
2. Memorization Tool
Challenge students to memorize the Powerful You Alphabet together.
Review one card at a time as a class—for example:
A – “I ADJUST to change.”
This reinforces positive self-talk and SEL vocabulary.
3. SEL Read & Reflect
Read the Powerful You story together, then place students into small groups to discuss the reflection and journaling questions. This encourages empathy, communication, and deeper understanding.
4. Role-Play Tool
Invite students to hold a laminated Powerful You card and act out common classroom or recess challenges. Role-play gives students the chance to practice problem-solving and emotional regulation in real-life situations.
Thank you for all you do to support the hearts and minds of your students 💛
If you have questions or want more ideas, I’d love to hear from you.
